Let's talk about dog training

It can be said that there are three main types of dog training. Obedience, Vocational, and Behavorial and regardless of which type training you are planning on going with, for your dog - every one of these training avenues, all require the same basic training to begin you and your pet on the journey to making the most out of your lifetogether.

Behavioral Training

Behavioral training is the type of training that teaches dogs how to be well behaved around people & animals. It usually includes basic commands, with the goal transforming them into 'good' dog citizens. Typical behavioral problems like excessive barking, biting, chewing/nipping or housebreaking can be fixed with behavioral training.

Obedience Training

Obedience training is the type of training that focuses on making dogs obedient to you through the use of commands like stay, sit, shake hand, lie down, and come. Obedience training can overlap with behavioral training techniques, but tends to be more advanced. Obedience training will usually aim to resolve behavioral concerns before they start and best started from puppy-hood.

Vocational Training

Vocational training revolves around teaching specific job skills. Learning how to herd sheep, emergency search and rescue work, assisting the disabled, and working in various branches of law enforcement/military. During these vocational training courses dogs learn very specific techniques that sharpens their senses and develop their communication capacity with humans. Some breeds of dogs are better suited for vocational professions.
